Belgian-Congolese manager is confident about his outfit chances ahead of the crucial Champions League quarterfinals against Inter Milan.
The German giants succumbed to a 21- home defeat to Inter Milan, giving the Italian giants a slight advantage.
Despite the first leg setback, Kompany is undoubtedly confident his outfit can upset Inter Milan in the return clash on Wednesday night.
“It’s over, it’s not about one player, we’ve had situations before where we suffered from absences.”
He continued: “We’ve always shown the energy to create chances and play well, and when it comes to the individual level, we always discuss it internally face to face. I believe in the team and the players.”
“Sometimes these are special nights. These nights can be decided in a single moment. We hope to have the same chances as we did in the first leg. Maybe we won’t have the same number, but we have to be present in those moments, defend well and score goals going forward.”
“We have faith in ourselves. At the end of the day, we only need to win one game. We always play to win. We hope to have a very special night for our fans.” He added
“There are no expectations looking at the match. It’s a close contest between the best team in Italy and the best team in Germany at the moment. The stadium is one of the best, there’s no better stadium. The quality and talent are there, and the most important thing is that we play our best.”
Looking at what will decide the match, he explained: “Everything will play a role, from the quality of our opponent to our quality. It’s not just about the first minutes. The match could end in 90 minutes or it could go to 120. Both teams have tremendous experience in Europe, and every player knows what the match means.”
Regarding who will start on the wing, he said: “We have more than two players who have played well, and this is important for tomorrow. The match will be decided in the end, and the first leg saw a lot in the final minutes. That’s why it’s important that Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Michael Oliseh are in good form. We’ll see who starts tomorrow.”
