Jens Vising said Al-Ittihad were left frustrated after being held to a 1-1 draw by Abha in the Roshn Saudi League.
The Tigers travelled to Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium seeking a victory, but had to settle for a point in Friday’s match, which was part of the 12th round of the competition.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, the German head coach said his side had failed to produce the required attacking intensity.
“We are very frustrated,” Vising said, in comments reported by the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat. “We came here to win, but it was not our day and we did not show the attacking sharpness we needed.”
Al-Ittihad created a number of opportunities but were unable to turn them into goals.
“We were unlucky,” Vising added. “We created many chances, but we did not succeed in taking advantage of them and converting them into goals.”
The coach also accepted that his team had allowed Abha too much space, giving the hosts opportunities to threaten.
“We gave the opponent space and allowed them to create chances,” he said. “Abha managed to score a good goal.”
Vising felt Al-Ittihad did not display their usual character and struggled to break down a well-organised defence.
“We did not show our usual personality,” he said. “Against the opponent’s defensive structure, the match required us to make better use of the opportunities available to us.”
Although Abha started the match at the bottom of the table, Vising praised their performance and organisation.
“It is true that Abha are bottom of the standings, but they played an excellent match and showed great defensive organisation,” he said. “They are a team that knows very well how to compete against their opponents.”
The result was Abha’s third draw of the season in the Roshn Saudi League. They have also suffered eight defeats and remain without a win, leaving them bottom of the table with three points.
For Al-Ittihad, the draw represented their fourth setback of the campaign. Their record now includes one defeat and three draws, while their 24 points leave them fourth in the standings.
Al-Ittihad’s next listed fixture is against Al Ain in the AFC Champions League Elite on 02 November 2026.
Abha are scheduled to face Al Shabab in the Roshn Saudi League on 05 November 2026.
