Christian Pulisic agrees new Milan deal running through 2031

AC Milan have extended Christian Pulisic’s contract by five years, keeping the United States forward at the Italian club until 2031.

The agreement was announced on Friday, ahead of Milan’s derby against Inter, with the club confirming its commitment to one of its leading attacking players.

Milan revealed the news on social media with the message: “Captain America’s mission in the Rossoneri shirt continues.”

Pulisic, who joined Milan from Chelsea in 2023, had entered the final year of his previous contract. The Athletic reported on 28 October that negotiations over a new agreement had reached an advanced stage.

Under the terms of the extension, Pulisic will receive a guaranteed basic salary of 6.5m euros. The total value of the deal could rise to 10m euros (£8.7m; $11.14m) if the agreed bonuses and incentives are met.

Talks had not started by 23 September, although Milan’s management had made clear during the summer transfer window that Pulisic was not available for sale. That stance came after interest from New York City FC in signing the forward.

Milan said the new contract “reflects a shared commitment to build on the progress achieved together in recent years, with the ambition to continue developing, achieve new successes and write more unforgettable chapters in the history of the club”.

Pulisic has scored twice and provided one assist in nine appearances in all competitions this season. Those performances have followed his recovery from a stress fracture in his leg suffered during a last-16 match at the World Cup.

He played in four matches at the tournament, which was hosted by the United States alongside two other countries. The United States were eliminated by Belgium before reaching the quarter-finals.

Since moving to Milan from Chelsea in 2023, Pulisic has made 143 appearances for the Italian side, scoring 44 goals and contributing 28 assists.

He scored 10 goals in 34 matches last season despite struggling with several muscular injuries. The new agreement secures his future at Milan for a further five years and extends the club’s relationship with a player who has remained a significant part of its attack since arriving from the Premier League.
