German forward of Nigerian descent, Karim Adeyemi, has admitted that Borussia Dortmund could not play their best game during the team’s 1-1 draw against Lille in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday night.
In that first-leg meeting of the Round 16 tie, Adeyemi started for Dortmund and scored the team’s only goal of the match.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game, Karim Adeyemi acknowledged that the game against the French Ligue 1 side was tough.
“Difficult game. I don’t think we played our best game or wanted to show what we wanted to do. But the team was perhaps a bit sloppy in general and that’s why it was difficult to score goals. (…) We have to win here, here at home, the fans were on fire and yes, it’s a shame about the 1:1, but as I said, we’re moving on,” Karim Adeyemi said.
He continued, “It was good. Good that it went in, but still not satisfied because we didn’t win.”
The forward is hopeful that Borussia Dortmund will win in France in the second leg to advance to the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League.
