Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah stars as Shamal edge Umm Salal
Baghdad Bounedjah and Naïm Sliti played decisive roles as Shamal secured a 3-2 victory over Umm Salal in the Qatar Stars League on Saturday.
The win, which came during the 20th round of the competition, was shaped by the attacking contributions of both players, who combined effectively to give their side a crucial advantage in a closely contested encounter.
Bounedjah once again demonstrated his importance to the team, contributing both a goal and an assist.
The Algerian striker doubled Shamal’s lead deep into first-half stoppage time, finishing from a pass delivered by Sliti in the 45+7th minute.
His involvement did not end there, as he later provided the assist for Alex Collado to score the team’s third goal in the 59th minute.
The performance further underlined Bounedjah’s consistency this season. He has now recorded nine goals and six assists, maintaining his influence despite being 34 years old.
His ability to remain effective in front of goal continues to be a key asset for Shamal.
Sliti was equally influential in the victory, producing two assists across the match. The Tunisian winger was directly involved in creating scoring opportunities, including the pass that led to Bounedjah’s goal.
His technical quality and vision allowed Shamal to take control at key moments of the game.
The winger’s display highlighted his growing impact in the league, as he continues to contribute both creatively and consistently for his side.
This match marked his third assist of the season, reflecting his role as an important attacking outlet.
Together, Bounedjah and Sliti were central to Shamal’s attacking success, combining effectively to break down Umm Salal’s defence.
Their performances ensured the team secured all three points in a match that remained competitive throughout.
The result reinforces their standing among the standout performers in the Qatar Stars League this season, with both players continuing to play a leading role in Shamal’s campaign.
