Africa’s qualification picture for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar has been finalised, with Uganda and Mozambique sealing the final two spots to complete the continent’s 10-team representation at the global tournament.
The conclusion of the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations playoffs in Morocco confirmed a full roster of African nations heading to the expanded World Cup, marking another milestone for youth football development across the continent.
A tournament graphic released after the qualifiers highlighted the achievement under the banner “10 Dreams Achieved,” with the flags of the qualified nations displayed around the official CAF U-17 AFCON Morocco 2026 branding. The image captured the scale of Africa’s presence at the upcoming global showpiece, set to be staged later this year in Qatar.
Uganda secured their place after navigating a tense qualification pathway, underlining their growing reputation in youth football on the continent. Mozambique also booked their ticket following a determined playoff campaign, marking a significant moment in their football history as they prepare for their first appearance at this level’s global stage.
They join eight other African nations who had already confirmed their places earlier in the qualification process, completing CAF’s allocation for the expanded 48-team World Cup.
The 2026 edition in Qatar is expected to bring together some of the brightest emerging talents in world football, with Africa once again heavily represented. For Uganda and Mozambique, attention now turns to preparation camps, squad refinement, and international friendlies as they step onto the global stage with growing ambition.
