Sabri Lamouchi warns Tunisia of tough Belgium test ahead of friendly
Tunisia head coach Sabri Lamouchi has underlined the scale of the challenge his side will face against Belgium, describing the upcoming friendly as a demanding test on the eve of their World Cup preparations.
Speaking at a press conference on the day before the match, Lamouchi acknowledged the strength of the Belgian team, pointing to their attacking quality and experience at the highest level of international football.
He said Belgium remain one of the most dangerous sides in Europe due to their individual talent and collective understanding, warning that Tunisia will need to remain highly organised defensively to cope with the threat.
According to the coach, discipline and unity will be key if Tunisia are to limit the spaces available to Belgium’s attacking players
. He stressed the importance of maintaining concentration throughout the match, particularly when dealing with quick transitions and forward movement.
Lamouchi also framed the fixture as part of Tunisia’s wider preparation process for the World Cup, rather than focusing solely on the result. He explained that the match would be used to assess tactical approaches and continue shaping a balanced and competitive squad.
“This confrontation represents above all an additional preparation step before the World Cup, the objective being mainly to test several tactical options and continue to build a competitive team rather than focusing solely on the result.”
The Tunisia coach also confirmed that changes would be made to the starting line-up for the match, citing physical fatigue following the previous game against Austria as well as minor fitness concerns within the squad.
He added that caution would be taken in managing players’ workload at this stage of preparation, with no unnecessary risks to be taken ahead of the tournament.
Lamouchi’s comments reflect Tunisia’s broader approach to their build-up, with squad rotation and tactical experimentation expected to continue as they fine-tune their preparations for the World Cup.
The friendly against Belgium is therefore seen as an important step in evaluating the team’s readiness, with the coaching staff focused on long-term performance rather than short-term results.
