Trevoh Chalobah calls for accountability as Chelsea slide worsens
Trevoh Chalobah has urged his Chelsea teammates to “take responsibility” after a bruising 3-0 defeat to Brighton deepened the club’s ongoing crisis.
The loss at the Amex was Chelsea’s fifth straight Premier League defeat, their worst run in more than 100 years, and allowed Brighton to jump above them in the table. With the team in freefall, pressure on head coach Liam Rosenior is intensifying ahead of a huge FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
“We all play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, so we have to look at ourselves,” Chalobah said. “As players, we have to be accountable for our performance. You can’t dwell on the past; you have to pick ourselves up for a massive game at Wembley.”
Chalobah made a crucial goal-line clearance early on, but Chelsea’s back line was eventually undone by strikes from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck.
The Blues now face a season-defining clash with Leeds United, with key attackers Cole Palmer and Estevao Willian sidelined and the squad’s character under fierce scrutiny. Rosenior, already managing disciplinary issues involving Enzo Fernandez, must also find a way to end a barren run of more than 450 minutes without a league goal.
