Tottenham close in on Omar Marmoush after agreeing loan terms with Manchester City

Omar Marmoush is expected to complete his move from Manchester City to Tottenham Hotspur after the two clubs reached a verbal agreement over an initial loan deal that could lead to a permanent transfer worth £50m.

The Egypt international has already accepted Tottenham’s proposal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, and is due to travel on Monday before undergoing a medical examination.

Romano reported on Sunday: “BREAKING: Tottenham reach verbal agreement with Man City to sign Omar Marmoush, here we go!”

He added that the clubs had settled on “an initial loan with a buy clause to become mandatory under certain conditions at £50m”.

Marmoush agreed to Tottenham’s offer several days ago, Romano said, with his journey to complete the next stage of the transfer and his medical scheduled for Monday.

The proposed move would give Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi another attacking option as the club seeks to strengthen its forward line during the current summer transfer window. Negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City had reached an advanced stage before the verbal agreement was reached.

The deal is structured as a loan in the first instance. However, the purchase clause would become compulsory if the specified conditions are met, with the permanent fee set at £50m.

Marmoush’s transfer therefore appears to be approaching completion, subject to the medical and the remaining formal steps. His approval of Tottenham’s offer has already been secured, while the agreement between the two clubs represents the latest significant development in the proposed switch.

For Tottenham, the arrival of Marmoush would provide De Zerbi with a different attacking option from the players currently available in his squad. The move is being pursued as part of the club’s efforts to add greater variety to its forward line.

Marmoush joined the discussions as Tottenham worked towards an agreement with Manchester City, and the transfer now appears to be a matter of time. The immediate focus will be on Monday’s travel arrangements and medical examination before the deal can progress further.

Romano ended his update with the phrase “here we go”, indicating that the move has reached an advanced stage, while the final completion remains dependent on the medical and the conditions attached to the loan agreement.
