Stuttgart targets Cameroonian centre-backs Christopher Wooh and Étienne Youte Kinkoué for defensive revamp

VfB Stuttgart has set its sights on Cameroonian defenders Christopher Wooh  and Étienne Youte Kinkoué as they look to bolster their backline in the upcoming January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

Defensive frailty has been Stuttgart’s Achilles’ heel this season, and the Bundesliga outfit is determined to fortify this area. Among their preferred candidates are Wooh, currently at Stade Rennais, and Kinkoué of Le Havre AC.

Wooh, a Cameroon international, has made 12 appearances this season in a Stade Rennais squad grappling with inconsistent form. Valued at €8-10 million, the 23-year-old’s physicality and ball-playing ability have made him an attractive prospect for Stuttgart.

Meanwhile, Kinkoué, a France U-21 international, recently extended his contract with Le Havre until 2026, regaining a spot in their first-team squad. However, Le Havre’s financial constraints may push them to entertain offers for the 22-year-old.

With both players priced similarly, Stuttgart faces a tough decision in choosing which promising Cameroonian to recruit as the cornerstone of their defensive rebuild.
