Spain name three newcomers for Nations League matches against England and Czech Republic
Luis de la Fuente has included three uncapped players in Spain’s squad for the November international break, while four Barcelona players will miss the final two group-stage games in the UEFA Nations League.
Spain face England and Czech Republic in their closing fixtures of the group stage, with qualification for the quarter-finals already secured.
De la Fuente announced his squad in an emotional video commemorating the deaths of dozens of people in the Orda train accident and the death of Tenerife player Jesus Miguel.
“Football must unite us today more than ever,” said the Spain manager.
Rodri, Dani Olmo and Eric Garcia are absent from the squad because of injury, while Gavi has not been selected for technical reasons.
Como defender Jacobo Ramon and Real Betis midfielders Alvaro Valles and Marc Roca have received their first call-ups. Pablo Barrios, Joan Garcia and Pedro Porro return after recovering from injury.
Spain lead the group with a perfect 12 points, three points clear of England. The world champions have already booked their place in the quarter-finals, which will be played in March 2027.
