Souleymane Fofana: Ivorian midfielder joins FC Annecy from ASEC Mimosas

Ivorian attacking midfielder Souleymane Fofana has joined French Ligue 2 club FC Annecy from ASEC Mimosas, bringing the 20-year-old to Europe after a spell in his homeland.

Fofana, who was born in Abobo and stands 1.75m tall, operates in the number 10 role and is predominantly right-footed. He joins Annecy after featuring in African club competition for ASEC Mimosas, where his recent performances included goalscoring and creative contributions.

The midfielder made two appearances in the CAF Champions League, scoring once, and added an assist in a single appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup. Across those three continental matches, he played 175 minutes.

Annecy compete in Ligue 2, France’s second tier, and Fofana’s arrival adds an Ivorian attacking midfielder to their squad. His move represents a change of footballing environment after his time with ASEC Mimosas, one of the established clubs in Cote d’Ivoire.

Fofana’s profile is centred on attacking midfield, with his technical preference for his right foot providing the clearest indication of his role. His age and recent involvement in continental competition form the main background to his arrival in France.

The transfer was registered on 1 September 2026, and Fofana’s contract with FC Annecy runs until 30 June 2030.
