Slot hits back at Mohamed Salah fears over Liverpool future

Arne Slot has delivered a firm response to Mohamed Salah’s recent concerns about Liverpool’s future, insisting he is not worried about standards dropping once the Egyptian and other leaders leave this summer.

Salah, who will depart Anfield along with Andy Robertson and more senior figures, had warned in recent interviews that “the level of standards will inevitably fall” after the exits of key players who drove the club’s success.

Slot dismissed that idea outright in his press conference. “I am not afraid that the standards will be lower next season than they were this season, or last season, or the one before. No. I am not worried. At all,” he said confidently. The Dutchman stressed he is “completely convinced” Liverpool already have enough quality in the squad, and that new signings will help keep expectations exactly “where they should be.”

In what sounded like a subtle message to Salah, Slot added that standards are not only about work in the gym, but also about what happens on the pitch, pointedly asking: “Do you understand me? Without me saying anything?” As a new era begins, he now faces the challenge of proving Liverpool can remain competitive without their modern icon.
