Siwelele FC dismiss Seema after Kaizer Chiefs defeat

Siwelele FC have dismissed head coach Lehlohonolo Seema and assistant coach Willem Jackson after a disappointing start to the 2026/27 season.

The club confirmed the changes on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after the team suffered a 3-2 defeat by Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium.

Seema and Jackson have both been relieved of their first-team responsibilities as Siwelele begin a review of their performances and technical programme. The club has acted immediately, appointing Godfrey Mosoetsa as caretaker coach of the senior side.

The decision follows a difficult period for the team, whose latest setback came against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday. Siwelele scored twice in the match but ultimately lost 3-2, prompting the club to make changes to its coaching structure.

In a statement, Siwelele said its supporters had not seen the level of performance expected so far this season.

“This has been a challenging period for the club, and our supporters deserve better than what they have seen so far this season,” the club said.

“Our belief in this team, in our players and in what we are building at Siwelele remains unchanged.”

Mosoetsa will take charge with immediate effect while the club considers its next steps. Siwelele said it would make a further announcement about its coaching approach for the remainder of the season once the review had been completed.

The club did not provide details about the length or scope of the review, but said the process would assess the team’s performances and the broader technical programme.

Seema’s departure comes after he had overseen the side’s opening period of the 2026/27 campaign. His tenure ended following the defeat by Kaizer Chiefs, with Jackson also leaving his role as part of the same decision.

Siwelele urged its players and supporters to remain united as the club attempts to recover from its early-season difficulties. The team described the campaign as being at an early stage and called for a collective response to the challenge ahead.

“Our season is still young. We will face the challenge in front of us together, as one team and one family,” the statement added.

The club’s immediate focus will now be on working under caretaker coach Mosoetsa while the review continues. Siwelele said its confidence in the squad and in the project being developed at the club remained unchanged, despite the decision to remove Seema and Jackson.

The announcement was made on Monday morning following Sunday’s match at Dobsonville Stadium and represents the first major change to Siwelele’s technical team this season.
