Bayern Munich overcome Atletico de Madrid 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League

Bayern Munich claimed a 2-0 victory at Atletico de Madrid on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League, scoring twice after the interval to secure all three points.

The opening half was closely contested, with both sides prioritising their defensive shape and neither able to break the deadlock. The game remained goalless at half-time, but Bayern quickly took control after the restart.

Lennart Karl put the German side ahead in the 54th minute, finishing off a period of sustained pressure. Bayern’s authority was reflected in their 60% share of possession, as they dictated the tempo for much of the second half.

Atletico responded by making changes in an attempt to alter the momentum. Kang-In Lee was introduced for Le Normand in the 59th minute, but the home side struggled to create a decisive opening against a composed Bayern defence.

The visitors doubled their advantage 16 minutes later. Konrad Laimer completed the scoring in the 74th minute after being set up by Harry Kane, giving Bayern a commanding lead.

Atletico de Madrid were unable to find a way through before the final whistle and suffered a home defeat in the league phase. Bayern’s clinical finishing after the break proved decisive.
