SAMUEL ETO’O: FROM UNDOCUMENTED TO CHELSEA, THE LITTLE “BLACK” WHO SUCCEEDED! VIDEO
Samuel Eto’o is set to miss Wednesday’s match with Chelsea against PSG in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. Despite this, the Cameroonian striker remains a focal point of media attention. He was recently featured as a special guest on “L’Entretien” on the French channel France 24.
During the interview, Eto’o reflected on his career, highlighting both the triumphs and challenges he faced along the way. Here are some key excerpts:
“I made a decision, like many young Africans dreaming of success in Europe. I chose to remain undocumented. Arriving in France with only a 10-day visa, I initially traveled to Marseille, then Avignon, before eventually settling in Paris, near Notre-Dame. I stayed there for several months.”
“It was a challenging period because I remained undocumented in Paris for several months. I rarely ventured outside my accommodation due to the constant fear of being discovered, as undocumented individuals were at risk of deportation. The cold weather made it even more difficult.”
“I had one goal: to prove to the world that a young black man could excel just like anyone else if given the opportunity. I was inspired by the achievements of others before me, such as George Weah, Abedi Pelé, Roger Milla, and Samuel Kuffour. Despite our talents, we often face skepticism and lack of recognition. I aimed to leave a lasting legacy.”
Eto’o’s interview sheds light on the challenges he overcame and his determination to succeed against all odds.
