Samuel Chukwueze a doubt for Milan’s Europa League trip to Salzburg

AC Milan forward Samuel Chukwueze is a doubt for Thursday’s Europa League group-stage match against RB Salzburg after missing training because of muscle fatigue.

The Nigeria international did not take part in the session at Milanello, according to reports in the Italian media.

Chukwueze, who has been deployed as a right wing-back by coach Ruben Amorim, could still travel with the Rossoneri for their match in Austria.

However, Milan’s medical team will assess his condition before deciding whether he is fit enough to be included in the squad. Should he make the trip, the 27-year-old is expected to begin on the bench.

The fixture is Milan’s second match of this season’s Europa League campaign. They lost their opening game 2-0 at home to Benfica.

Chukwueze has regained his place in the Italian side since returning from a loan spell with English Premier League club Fulham last season. He has made seven appearances for Milan this season and provided two assists.

Overall, the Nigerian has played 77 matches for the club, scoring eight goals and assisting eight more.
