Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Cameroonian defender Mahamadou Nagida as they explore options to strengthen their left-back position ahead of the January transfer window.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Premier League giants have been impressed by the Stade Rennais youngster following several scouting assignments in recent weeks.

United scouts have reportedly watched the 21-year-old in action during Rennes’ UEFA Europa League encounters against Juventus and Olympiacos as the club assesses his potential suitability for a move to Old Trafford.

The interest comes as United look to address their defensive options, with Diogo Dalot having recently been deployed at left-back while the recruitment team continues its search for reinforcements.

Nagida has emerged as an attractive prospect following his development in French football since joining Rennes in 2023 from Cameroon’s Ecole de Football Brasseries academy.

His athleticism, attacking contributions and defensive work rate have reportedly caught the attention of United’s recruitment department.

However, the Cameroonian is not the only defender under consideration, with Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and RB Leipzig’s David Raum also reportedly on the club’s radar.

Nagida remains under contract with Rennes until 2029, meaning United could face a difficult negotiation if they decide to pursue his signature.
