Samkelo Zwane’s Kaizer Chiefs future uncertain after loan spell

Samkelo Zwane’s future at Kaizer Chiefs is set to be decided as the midfielder considers his options after another season away from Naturena.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Hope FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where he has had more opportunities to play than he did during his previous campaign with Siwelele FC.

Zwane made only seven appearances in all competitions while on loan at Siwelele. Kaizer Chiefs subsequently decided he would spend a further season away from the club.

Although his playing time has increased at Hope FC, Soccer Laduma reports that there is no guarantee he will return to the Soweto club. The midfielder’s difficulties in securing regular first-team football before leaving Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have influenced the uncertainty around his next move.

Zwane is expected to assess his options, including the possibility of joining a club where he would have a stronger prospect of playing regularly. He is understood to be seeking a return to the Premiership.

A route to remain at Hope FC could emerge if the club secures promotion to the top flight. For now, however, Zwane’s priority is to continue playing, rebuild his confidence and improve his fitness so he can complete 90 minutes.

The midfielder remains contracted to Kaizer Chiefs, but his long-term position at the club has not yet been settled.

Nkosana Mbuthu is also still a Kaizer Chiefs player. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicesterford City, while a move away during the current campaign had been considered but was not secured.
