Ronaldo closes in on 1,000 goals after Al-Nassr win

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to within 20 goals of reaching 1,000 in his career after scoring in Al-Nassr’s 3-0 victory over Al-Diriyah in the eighth round of the Roshn Saudi League.

The Portugal forward, who captains Al-Nassr, marked the latest win with a brief message on social media, signalling that his focus had already turned to the club’s next fixture.

“Job done. On to the next one!” Ronaldo posted on his social media accounts on 9 October 2026.

The goal took his career total to 980, leaving him needing 20 more to reach the landmark figure he is aiming to achieve before bringing his professional career to an end.

Ronaldo’s latest strike was also his fourth in the Roshn Saudi League this season. He had previously scored against Al-Riyadh, Al-Taawoun and Abha.

His contribution against Al-Diriyah maintained his attacking impact for Al-Nassr as the club continues its pursuit of honours. The 980-goal tally has increased attention on Ronaldo’s next appearances, with supporters waiting to see whether he can complete the remaining stage of his pursuit in an Al-Nassr shirt.
