Red Star Belgrade, Serbia’s premier football club, has set its sights on securing the services of Malian midfielder Sambou Sissoko, making him their top priority in the upcoming transfer window, according to reports from Africafoot.

Sissoko, a standout performer for FK Cukaricki during the current season, has garnered attention from various European clubs owing to his impressive displays on the pitch.

Red Star Belgrade, led by manager Vladan Milojevic, is now eager to secure the 23-year-old’s signature as they look to bolster their squad for the next campaign.

Currently leading the Serbian Super Liga standings with 68 points, Red Star Belgrade is on course to secure another title, sitting ahead of perennial rivals Partizan.

With their European qualification for next season already secured, the club is turning its attention to the summer transfer market to reinforce its squad.

Sissoko, known for his commanding presence in midfield, has emerged as a prime target for Red Star Belgrade.

Despite interest from other clubs, including FC Toronto, the Malian midfielder is determined to continue plying his trade in Europe, rejecting offers from clubs outside the continent.

With Sissoko’s contract at FK Cukaricki running until June 30, 2025, Red Star Belgrade faces competition from a host of European clubs vying for his signature.

Among the clubs reportedly interested in the midfielder are Frosinone, Genoa, FC Toulouse, OGC Nice, Montpellier, Le Havre, and Sotchi FK.

Sissoko’s refusal of FC Toronto’s offer underscores his desire to continue his career in Europe, where he aims to further establish himself as a top talent.

The midfielder, who played a key role in Mali’s U20 African Cup of Nations triumph in 2019, is seen as a valuable asset by clubs across the continent.

As Red Star Belgrade intensifies its efforts to secure Sissoko’s services, the club remains optimistic about its chances of landing the talented midfielder and bolstering its squad ahead of the upcoming season.

With negotiations underway, all eyes are on whether Sissoko will make the move to Serbia and join the ranks of Red Star Belgrade.
