Real Madrid squad named for Malaga match as Tchouameni and Militao remain absent

Jose Mourinho has named the Real Madrid squad for the club’s La Liga meeting with Malaga, with Aurelien Tchouameni and Eder Militao continuing to miss out because of injury.

Real Madrid will face Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu in the third round of the Spanish league season. The squad announcement confirms that neither Tchouameni nor Militao has recovered in time to be considered for the fixture.

Real Madrid have made a perfect start to the campaign, winning their opening two matches against Espanyol and Real Sociedad. They will now look to maintain that record when Malaga visit the Santiago Bernabeu.

The full squad named by Mourinho is:

Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin, Javi Navarro.

Defenders: Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, Alvaro Carreras, Antonio Rudiger, Denzel Dumfries, Mario Rivas.

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Arda Guler, Bernardo Silva, Sastero, Alexis Siria.

Forwards: Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, Carlos Espi, Brahim Diaz, Yan Diomande.

The continued absence of Tchouameni and Militao is the main change highlighted by the squad announcement. Both players are unavailable because of injury, leaving them out of the group selected for the third-round fixture.

Courtois and Lunin are included among the goalkeeping options, while Javi Navarro completes the list in that position. The defensive group features Huijsen, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Cucurella, Carreras, Rudiger, Dumfries and Rivas.

Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Guler and Bernardo Silva are joined in midfield by Sastero and Alexis Siria. The attacking options selected by Mourinho are Vinicius Junior, Mbappe, Espi, Diaz and Diomande.

Real Madrid’s victories over Espanyol and Real Sociedad mean the club arrive at the Malaga game having won both of their first two league matches. The fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu will therefore be the next opportunity for Mourinho’s side to continue that winning run.

Malaga are the opponents in the third round, while the squad list provides the latest confirmation of the players available to Real Madrid. Tchouameni and Militao remain outside the group, with the rest of the named players selected across the goalkeeper, defensive, midfield and forward positions.
