Real Madrid and RB Leipzig step up talks over €120m Yan Diomande deal

RB Leipzig and Real Madrid have intensified negotiations over the transfer of Yan Diomande, with the German club holding firm on a total package worth at least €120m.

Diomande trained on Tuesday under a tightly controlled workload at Leipzig’s training ground, as club staff sought to minimise any risk of injury while discussions over his future continue behind the scenes.

According to sources close to the talks, financial discussions between Leipzig and Real Madrid have accelerated, with both clubs now in regular contact in an effort to move closer to an agreement.

Leipzig are insisting on a deal structure that combines a very high guaranteed fee with performance-related add-ons that are considered easily attainable. The Bundesliga side want the overall value of the transfer to reach a minimum of €120m, and are not currently prepared to drop below that figure.

The talks, which had slowed previously, resumed with greater intensity on Tuesday and are described as ongoing and active, although no final agreement has yet been reached.

Leipzig’s stance remains uncompromising as they look to protect the valuation of one of their key assets, while Real Madrid continue to explore ways to structure the financial package in line with the German club’s demands.

While the outcome is still to be decided, all parties are understood to view the deal as very much alive, with negotiations expected to carry on as they seek common ground on the fee and bonus conditions.
