RB Leipzig open door for Castello Lukeba exit as Premier League giants circle
RB Leipzig are willing to sanction a move for France international of Angolan descent Castello Lukeba amid growing interest from several European heavyweights.
The 23-year-old centre-back, who has spent the last three seasons developing into one of the Bundesliga’s most reliable defenders, is attracting serious attention from clubs across England and Germany.
According to reports, Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Arsenal are all monitoring the Frenchman closely.
Although Lukeba remains under contract with Leipzig until 2029, the German club is understood to be open to negotiations should a suitable offer arrive this summer.
The defender’s release clause is reportedly set at €80 million, but Leipzig could be willing to lower their demands and negotiate a deal in the region of €60 million in order to facilitate a transfer.
Lukeba himself is also believed to be considering a fresh challenge after establishing himself as a key figure in Leipzig’s backline. The prospect of competing at a higher level in either the Premier League or with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich is said to appeal strongly to the French international.
Since arriving in Germany, Lukeba has earned widespread praise for his composure on the ball, tactical intelligence and ability to read the game. His athleticism and confidence in possession have made him one of the most sought-after young defenders in Europe.
For clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, Lukeba represents a long-term defensive solution capable of fitting into modern, possession-based systems. Aston Villa, meanwhile, continue to show ambition in the transfer market as they seek to strengthen their squad for European competition.
Bayern Munich’s interest could also intensify as the Bavarian giants look to reinforce their defensive options ahead of next season.
With Leipzig now seemingly prepared to listen to offers, the race for Lukeba’s signature could become one of the major transfer sagas of the summer. Much may depend on which club is ready to meet Leipzig’s valuation and convince the French defender that their project offers the ideal next step in his rapidly rising career.
