Raja Casablanca is reportedly considering Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Romain Folz as their next head coach in a bid to revive their season.
Current manager Ricardo Sá Pinto has struggled since his appointment on October 10, failing to secure a single win. A 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Wydad Casablanca on November 22 left the Green Eagles in 11th place in the Botola Pro after 11 matches.
Their CAF Champions League campaign also began on a disappointing note, with a 2-0 loss to AS FAR in their Group B opener.
Sá Pinto is the third coach to helm Raja this season. Following Josef Zinnbauer’s departure in July, Rusmir Cviko and caretaker Abdelkrim Jinani had brief stints before Sá Pinto’s arrival. With results not improving, the club appears to be seeking a fresh direction.
Raja has reportedly identified Folz, a French-Moroccan coach with UEFA Pro License credentials, as their preferred candidate. Folz, who rejoined Mamelodi Sundowns in July after working in FIFA’s High-Performance department, is currently pursuing his CAF A License in Mauritania.
If appointed, Folz would bring a blend of tactical expertise and international experience, which Raja hopes could steer them back to form.
