Raja Casablanca draw El-Kanemi Warriors as AS FAR face CO Korhogo in CAF Confederation Cup
Raja Casablanca will face Nigeria’s El-Kanemi Warriors in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, while AS FAR have been drawn against Ivorian club CO Korhogo.
Both Moroccan sides were exempt from the opening round and now know the opponents standing between them and a place in the group stage. The second preliminary round is the competition’s final qualifying stage before the groups.
El-Kanemi Warriors secured their progress despite losing the second leg 1-0 away to Guinea-Bissau’s UDIB on Sunday. The Nigerian side advanced after a 3-1 home victory in the first match, with Nnamdi Mejuobi scoring twice for the Desert Warriors.
That result gave El-Kanemi Warriors sufficient advantage to withstand UDIB’s response in the return fixture and complete a 3-1 aggregate win.
AS FAR, meanwhile, will meet CO Korhogo, who are seeking to reach the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
The Ivorian side booked their place in the next round with a 2-0 victory over Chad’s AS PSI at Stade Amadou Gon Coulibaly. Adje Sandani put the hosts in front in the 12th minute before Andre Any converted a penalty in the 56th minute to secure the win.
Both Raja Casablanca and AS FAR will have home advantage in the second leg of their respective ties.
The first legs will be played between 16 and 18 October, with the return matches scheduled for 23 to 25 October.
If both clubs qualify, Morocco will have two teams in the final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for a second successive season. Wydad Casablanca and OC Safi represented the country in the most recent edition.
However, during the previous 2024-2025 campaign, only RS Berkane made it through the qualifying rounds. The Orange went on to win the trophy for the third time in their history, following their previous triumphs in 2020 and 2022.
