PSG score twice late on to rescue draw against Lille in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain scored twice in added time to come from two goals down and draw 2-2 with Lille in a remarkable Ligue 1 finish.

Lille looked set to claim a famous victory after goals from Hakon Haraldsson and Dilane Bakwa had put them in control, but Vitinha sparked a dramatic PSG revival before setting up Marquinhos for the equaliser in the 95th minute.

The result extends PSG’s unbeaten run against Lille to 11 competitive matches. It also leaves Lille frustrated after they briefly moved to the top of the Ligue 1 table, while reigning champions PSG ended the day in sixth place.

PSG had created the first clear opportunity when Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer made an error. The loose ball reached Achraf Hakimi, but the defender’s left-footed effort curled against the outside of the post.

Lille quickly demonstrated that they could threaten at the other end. Matvey Safonov produced a sharp close-range save to deny Olivier Giroud as both teams made an energetic start.

Giroud was involved again when Lille took the lead midway through the first half. The experienced striker used a clever reverse pass to send Hakon Haraldsson through, and the Iceland international finished with a powerful first-time shot beyond Safonov.

Haraldsson’s goal was his first of the season and gave Lille a deserved 1-0 advantage at half-time.

PSG manager Luis Enrique responded by introducing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the second half. The Georgia winger immediately offered an attacking threat, cutting an effort towards goal that narrowly missed the target.

The visitors began to dominate possession and applied sustained pressure in search of an equaliser. Lille defended deeper, protecting their lead, but remained dangerous whenever they broke forward.

Giroud nearly doubled the advantage when he met a cross with a header, only to see the ball bounce over the crossbar.

Lille eventually found a second goal, and it was a memorable moment for Dilane Bakwa. The winger found room inside the PSG penalty area before curling an excellent left-footed finish into the far corner.

Bakwa’s first goal for Lille appeared to have secured a landmark win for Ancelotti’s side. PSG, however, continued to push forward and refused to accept defeat.

Vitinha gave the visitors renewed hope with a superb strike from the edge of the penalty area. His shot beat Ozer and reduced the deficit deep into added time.

The Portugal midfielder then turned provider shortly afterwards. In the 95th minute, Vitinha lifted a cross into the box, where Marquinhos rose to send a powerful header into the net and complete PSG’s escape.

The late turnaround denied Lille what had looked like a memorable home victory. Instead, PSG rescued a point after trailing by two goals and maintained their long unbeaten record in this fixture.
