POGBA FOR CAVANI SWAP: JUVENTUS WOULDN’T WANT IT
Yesterday, the Italian press ignited speculation of a potential swap deal between Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani next summer. However, Juventus has expressed reluctance towards the idea.
Since joining Juventus Turin from Manchester United in 2012, Paul Pogba has been the subject of interest from top European clubs. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, in particular, have been vocal about their desire to acquire the services of the French midfielder.
The Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport floated the idea of Pogba moving to PSG in exchange for Cavani, who has faced criticism for his performances this season at Paris Saint-Germain, highlighted by the recent PSG-Chelsea match. However, the same publication now reports that Juventus is not enthusiastic about this proposition, citing concerns over Cavani’s high salary. Instead, Juventus is inclined towards receiving a substantial transfer fee, possibly around 70 million euros, to reinvest in the transfer market and strengthen their squad with multiple acquisitions.
“Inevitably, Pogba will be subject to negotiations this summer in the transfer market. A player of his caliber is highly coveted by top European clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and PSG. While selling a player like him would be tempting for Juventus, which nurtured his talent, the club must resist the urge to sell if it aims to compete at the highest level in the future,” remarked Benoît Cauet, a former player for Inter Milan.
