Paris Saint-Germain agree £30m deal for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, says RMC Sport

Paris Saint-Germain have reached a full agreement with Parma to sign Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, according to French radio station RMC Sport.

The 23-year-old is expected to move to the French champions for about 35m euros during the summer transfer window, after Parma rejected an initial offer worth 28m euros plus a further 5m euros in potential bonuses.

Suzuki is set to sign a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days. He is also preparing to represent Japan at the 2026 World Cup.

The deal would make Suzuki the fourth signing made by Paris Saint-Germain this summer, following Alessandro Longoni, Magnus Akliouche and Lucas Digne.

However, despite the agreement, Suzuki may not play for Paris Saint-Germain during the 2026-27 season. The club already have Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier among their goalkeeping options, and RMC Sport reports that Paris Saint-Germain are looking for a club where the Japan international could continue his development on loan.

Juventus are currently considered the leading candidates to sign Suzuki temporarily. Relations between Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have improved in recent months, particularly after Randal Kolo Muani completed a permanent move to the Italian club.

Juventus’ position on a possible loan for Suzuki remains unclear, especially because the proposed deal would not include an option to buy. Other clubs are also understood to be interested in the goalkeeper.

If an agreement cannot be reached over a loan, Suzuki could remain at Parma for another season.

Paris Saint-Germain’s decision to pursue the goalkeeper forms part of a longer-term plan to strengthen the position. The French club believe Suzuki has significant room for improvement and could develop into an important option in the future, despite the intense competition already present within the squad.

Suzuki’s performances at the most recent World Cup in the United States also helped raise his profile in Japan. That growing popularity is viewed as a commercially valuable factor for Paris Saint-Germain, who are seeking to increase their presence and appeal in the Asian market.

Suzuki joined Parma in 2024 from Belgian club Sint-Truiden. During the previous season, he made 22 appearances for Parma, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 30 goals.

The reported agreement would give Paris Saint-Germain control of the goalkeeper’s long-term future, while allowing the club to consider a loan move before deciding when he is ready to compete for a regular place in the first team. Juventus remain the likeliest destination at this stage, although the absence of a purchase option and interest from other clubs mean the next step has yet to be finalised.
