PSG step up Desire Doue talks as Premier League interest fades

Paris Saint-Germain are making progress in discussions to extend Desire Doue’s contract, reducing the chances of the France forward moving to the Premier League.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have been monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation, but PSG are seeking to secure the future of one of their most highly regarded young players. According to TEAMtalk, talks are advancing, although no final agreement has yet been reached.

Doue is currently under contract with the French club until 2029. PSG nevertheless want to reward his development with improved long-term terms and reinforce his importance to the project led by manager Luis Enrique.

A new agreement could keep Doue in Paris for much of the next decade. The forward has gradually established himself as an important part of PSG’s attacking play, with his versatility, ability to create openings and growing influence making him a key player for the club’s future.

English clubs face an uphill battle

Doue’s performances have attracted attention from several of England’s leading clubs as they assess potential attacking reinforcements. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City had carried out checks on his circumstances and intentions earlier in the year.

However, those clubs appear to face a significant obstacle. Doue is not thought to be looking to leave Paris, with TEAMtalk reporting that his message to interested parties was clear: he wants to continue developing at PSG and is open to committing his long-term future to the club.

His reported preference, combined with the progress of the contract negotiations, has substantially weakened the Premier League clubs’ prospects of signing him. The situation is not formally settled until an agreement is signed, but the current direction points towards Doue remaining in the French capital.

Bayern Munich also monitoring situation

Interest in Doue has not been limited to England. Bayern Munich tried to sign him in 2024, before the player decided to leave Rennes for PSG.

The German club has continued to follow his progress, although the current circumstances make a transfer increasingly difficult. Doue is developing strongly in Paris and appears determined to continue his career with the French champions.

PSG’s efforts to extend his contract underline their intention to retain their leading young players and provide greater stability to their sporting project. Doue is viewed both as a long-term investment and as an important contributor now, given his growing role in attack.

Negotiations still need to be completed, and the situation remains open until the paperwork is signed. However, PSG’s desire to keep him, the progress made in talks and Doue’s reported willingness to stay all point towards a new contract in Paris.

PSG will soon play their ninth Ligue 1 match of the season against Le Havre.
