Orlando Pirates provide positive injury update on Thalente Mbatha and Evidence Makgopa

Orlando Pirates have reported progress in the recoveries of Thalente Mbatha and Evidence Makgopa, while captain Nkosinathi Sibisi is also nearing a return to action.

Mbatha featured at the start of the season but was absent from Pirates’ 1-1 Betway Premiership draw against AmaZulu at Kings Park Stadium in Durban last month. Makgopa, meanwhile, has not played in any of the club’s matches this season.

Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou previously confirmed that both players were managing injuries carried over from the previous campaign.

The club has now issued a fresh update on the pair, along with Sibisi and new signing Mohau Nkota, who has also been sidelined.

“Mohau Nkota has to wait a while longer for his own official homecoming as he continues to recover from an injury picked up late last season,” Orlando Pirates said on their official website.

The club added that Sibisi could soon be available after missing the Soweto Giants’ last three fixtures.

“Further reinforcements could come in the form of club captain Nkosinathi Sibisi, who could soon return to action after missing out the Soweto Giants’ last three fixtures,” the statement said.

Mbatha and Makgopa are also moving closer to returning to full training.

“Midfielder Thalente Mbatha meanwhile continues to edge closer to a return to full training alongside striker Evidence Makgopa,” Pirates said.

The update provides a more encouraging outlook for the squad as the club continues to manage the players’ respective recoveries.
