Orlando Pirates hit back with 4-1 DStv Diski Challenge win over Stellenbosch

DStv Diski Challenge champions Orlando Pirates returned to winning ways with a convincing 4-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC on Saturday morning.

Aphelele Nzimande and Khumoetsile Van Schalkwyk both scored twice as the Buccaneers recovered from their 3-2 defeat by arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the opening match of the season.

Pirates faced another difficult opponent on match day two, meeting Stellenbosch FC in Gauteng after a disappointing start to their title defence. However, they responded strongly to last weekend’s Soweto Derby loss by producing a four-goal performance against the Cape Winelands side.

The result left Stellenbosch with back-to-back defeats at the beginning of the campaign. They had previously lost 2-0 to Chippa United on the opening day.

There was also a win for Siwelele FC on match day two, with the club recording a 2-0 away victory over Chippa United. The result handed the Chilli Boys their first defeat of the season.

The remaining listed fixture between AmaZulu FC and Richards Bay was marked as to be confirmed, with the game still in progress.
