Victor Valdès’ season has come to an abrupt end due to injury. The FC Barcelona goalkeeper sustained the injury during a league match against Celta Vigo last Wednesday. After undergoing successful surgery in Germany on Monday, it has been confirmed that Valdès will be sidelined for the next seven months. Unfortunately, this means he will miss the 2014 World Cup with Spain, where he serves as Iker Casillas’ understudy. With his contract at Barcelona ending soon and already announcing his departure, Valdès was expected to join Monaco next season, but this injury might lead to a reconsideration of his future plans.
