Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare left out of Wolves’ Portugal training camp amid transfer speculation
Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare has been omitted from Wolverhampton Wanderers’ squad for their pre-season training camp in Portugal, further fuelling speculation over his future at the Premier League club.
The Super Eagles striker did not travel with the rest of the Wolves squad for the week-long training camp, with reports suggesting the decision is linked to the uncertainty surrounding his future at Molineux.
Arokodare has emerged as a transfer target for several clubs across Europe following growing interest in his services during the summer transfer window. Among the clubs closely monitoring the 25-year-old is Italian Serie A outfit Fiorentina, who are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
However, Wolves are understood to have already rejected an initial approach from the Florence-based club, signalling that they are not prepared to let the Nigerian striker leave on unfavourable terms.
Despite the setback, Fiorentina’s interest remains alive, while other European clubs are also believed to be keeping tabs on the former Genk forward as the transfer window progresses.
Although no agreement has yet been reached with any interested club, Arokodare is increasingly expected to depart Wolves before the start of the 2026/27 season.
A temporary move is currently viewed as the most likely outcome, with a loan deal expected to provide the striker with regular first-team football after struggling to establish himself as a key figure at the Premier League side.
The Nigerian has remained in England while discussions over his future continue, as Wolves press ahead with preparations for the new season in Portugal under their coaching staff.
His absence from the travelling squad has only intensified speculation that an exit could be imminent, with both the player and the club believed to be exploring the best solution for the next stage of his career.
For Arokodare, securing consistent playing time will be crucial as he looks to maintain his place in Nigeria’s national team setup ahead of upcoming international assignments. A successful loan spell could provide the platform he needs to rediscover his best form and continue his development at the highest level.
With negotiations still ongoing and interest from multiple clubs remaining strong, Arokodare’s future is expected to be one of the transfer stories to watch in the coming weeks as the summer window gathers momentum.
