Juventus have rewarded Nico Gonzalez’s return to form by handing the Argentina winger a new contract running until 30 June 2030.
The 28-year-old has re-established himself as a trusted option under manager Luciano Spalletti at the start of the 2026-27 season, after spending the previous campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Gonzalez joined Juventus in the summer of 2024 but was allowed to leave on loan the following year after an underwhelming first season in Turin, which was disrupted by injuries and changes to the coaching staff.
He enjoyed his spell with Atletico Madrid, although he did not make enough La Liga appearances to trigger the mandatory purchase clause in his agreement. Reports during the summer transfer window said the Spanish club remained interested in signing him permanently, but wanted to pay considerably less than the clause’s value of 32m euros.
No agreement was reached, leaving Gonzalez to return to Turin and resume training with Juventus.
His situation changed after injuries affected several of Juventus’ leading attacking players, including star forward Kenan Yildiz. Spalletti has subsequently increased his reliance on Gonzalez, who has already played five matches in all competitions this season and started the last three Serie A games.
Juventus confirmed the deal on 9 October 2026 in a post on the club’s official website and on social media.
“Nico Gonzalez signs a new contract! The Argentine player and Juventus have reached an agreement over a new deal until 30 June 2030,” the club said.
The announcement added: “The new contract confirms the desire to continue the journey that began in the summer of 2024, when Nico first arrived in Turin. Since then, the 28-year-old has made a total of 45 appearances and scored seven goals in a Juventus shirt, while also making a significant contribution at the start of this season by scoring twice in five matches so far.”
Juventus said Gonzalez’s style brought “an element of surprise and tactical options” to their attack during a busy campaign.
“Alongside his experience and personality, these qualities make him a valuable pillar for the team, both on and off the pitch,” the club added.
The new agreement marks a significant change in Gonzalez’s position at Juventus. A player whose first season was affected by injuries and uncertainty is now being retained as part of the club’s plans through the end of the 2029-30 season.
Gonzalez’s overall record since joining Juventus stands at seven goals in 45 appearances, with two of those goals coming in his five outings so far this season.
“Congratulations, Nico!” Juventus concluded.
