Neftchi PFK linked to Adeleke Akinyemi after prolific IF Gnistan season

Nigerian forward Adeleke Akinyemi has been linked with a move from IF Gnistan to Azerbaijan club Neftchi PFK.

The 28-year-old centre-forward has made a strong start to the 2026 Veikkausliiga campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist in 22 appearances. He has also scored twice and supplied one assist in four Liigacup matches.

Akinyemi joined IF Gnistan from fellow Finnish club Ilves on a free transfer in January 2026. His current deal runs until 31 December 2027, meaning any move to Neftchi would involve a transfer fee unless the two clubs reach another agreement.

The reported switch would take Akinyemi from Finland’s Veikkausliiga to Azerbaijan’s Premyer Liqa. His current market value is listed at €250,000, while his highest recorded valuation has been €350,000.

Akinyemi began his senior career in Europe and has also played in Latvia, Norway, Albania, Kosovo, the Czech Republic and Finland. He won the Latvian Cup with JFK Ventspils in 2017 and was the leading scorer in Latvia’s top flight that season with 10 goals.

For now, Akinyemi remains an IF Gnistan player, with his contract tying him to the Finnish club through the end of 2027.
