Morocco star Abderrazak Hamdallah closes in on Saudi League immortality after 154 goal feat
Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah continues to cement his legendary status in Saudi football after scoring once again in the Saudi Pro League during Al-Shabab FC (Saudi Arabia)’s victory over Al-Okhdood Club last Saturday.
Hamdallah found the net from the penalty spot, a goal that carried historic significance. The strike took his tally to 154 league goals, strengthening his position as the second-highest scorer in Saudi League history.
More importantly, the goal brought the Moroccan forward within touching distance of the competition’s all-time scoring record currently held by Syrian striker Omar Al Somah, who leads the charts with 159 goals. With just five goals separating the two, Hamdallah is now firmly on course to challenge for the historic record.
The Safi-born striker’s impact in Saudi football goes far beyond his scoring numbers. Over the course of 172 league appearances, Hamdallah has been directly involved in 178 goals, combining his clinical finishing with an ability to create opportunities for teammates.
That statistic places him just three goal contributions away from equaling Al-Somah’s record as the most influential player in the history of the Saudi League, highlighting the Moroccan star’s all-round attacking influence.
Hamdallah’s remarkable consistency is part of a much larger legacy built over an extensive professional career. Across 465 professional matches, the prolific forward has contributed to 432 goals and assists, an astonishing figure that underlines his reputation as one of the most productive strikers in the history of Arab and Asian football.
Even at 35 years old, Hamdallah continues to defy expectations with his performances for Al-Shabab. Since joining the club, he has scored 29 goals in 41 matches for “Al-Laith” (The Lions), proving that age has done little to diminish his instinct in front of goal.
Before his current spell, the Moroccan international enjoyed tremendous success with Al-Nassr FC and Al-Ittihad Club (Jeddah), where he established himself as one of the league’s most feared attackers. His exploits during those years played a major role in elevating his status among the greatest foreign players ever to feature in Saudi football.
Throughout his time in the kingdom, Hamdallah has collected two Saudi League titles and three top scorer awards, achievements that further highlight his dominance in front of goal.
Despite already securing his place among the league’s legends, the Moroccan striker appears far from satisfied. With Al-Somah’s record now within reach, Hamdallah seems determined to finish his career by claiming the title of the Saudi League’s all-time leading scorer.
If he succeeds, it would represent the crowning moment of a career defined by relentless scoring, historic milestones, and an enduring legacy across Arab and Asian football.
