Omar Fayed named in Frosinone squad for Fiorentina match

Frosinone defender Omar Fayed has been included in the club’s matchday squad for the first time since joining from Fenerbahce, as Massimiliano Alvini prepares his side to face Fiorentina in Serie A on Saturday.

Frosinone will visit Fiorentina in the second round of the Italian top flight, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 Cairo time. The match will be played at Fiorentina’s ground.

Fayed’s inclusion marks his first appearance in a Frosinone squad since completing his move to the Italian club. The 23-year-old joined from Fenerbahce on a four-year contract in a deal reported to be worth €500,000.

He was not involved in Frosinone’s opening league fixture, when they were beaten 1-0 by Juventus. The result left the newly promoted side without a point from their first match of the season, although Fayed now has the opportunity to make his first official contribution to the team against Fiorentina.

Frosinone returned to Serie A after spending two seasons away from Italy’s top division. Alvini’s squad will therefore be seeking its first points of the campaign in one of the club’s early tests after promotion.

Fayed moved to Fenerbahce from Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the summer of 2023. However, he did not play a single minute for the Turkish giants, who sent him out on loan to a number of clubs.

During the 2023-24 season, the defender played for Serbian side Novi Pazar. He then joined Belgian club Beerschot for the 2024-25 campaign before spending the 2025-26 season with Portuguese side Arouca.

Across those three seasons, Fayed made 38 appearances in the Serbian, Belgian and Portuguese leagues. Before leaving for Europe, he had played 28 matches for Al Mokawloon Al Arab.

His selection by Frosinone against Fiorentina provides his first opportunity to feature for the club since arriving in Italy. The match comes as Frosinone look to respond to their narrow defeat by Juventus and begin their return to Serie A with a positive result.
