Morocco forward Achraf Bencharki seeks longer stay at Al Ahly after impressive spell in Egypt
Al Ahly forward Achraf Bencharki is reportedly keen to extend his stay at the Egyptian giants beyond his current contractual agreement.
The Moroccan international only joined Al Ahly in January 2025 but has already enjoyed a successful spell with the club, helping them secure the Egyptian Premier League title and the Egyptian Super Cup. He has also featured in the FIFA Club World Cup, further cementing his role within the squad.
According to reports, Bencharki has expressed a strong desire to continue his journey with the Cairo-based club and has even requested discussions over a contract extension that would see him remain beyond the currently agreed terms.
The winger’s position is said to reflect his growing comfort and satisfaction within the Al Ahly environment, where he has quickly integrated into the team and adapted to the demands of playing for one of Africa’s biggest clubs.
Bencharki’s current contract already includes an option for an additional season, which has reportedly been activated as part of an agreement between the player and the club. However, the latest development suggests the player is now pushing for an even longer commitment, with hopes of extending his stay to a fourth season.
The decision to trigger the extension clause followed mutual satisfaction between both parties, with Al Ahly’s management also keen to retain the player after his strong performances and contribution since arriving at the club.
His form and importance to the squad have also attracted external attention, with reports linking him to interest from abroad during the summer transfer window. However, Bencharki is said to have shown a clear willingness to remain in Cairo and continue his project with the Red Devils.
With both player and club aligned for now, negotiations over a longer-term extension are expected to be a key talking point in the coming months as Al Ahly look to maintain stability within their squad ahead of future domestic and continental challenges.
