Morena Ramoreboli appointed Pitso Mosimane’s assistant coach for Bafana Bafana

Morena Ramoreboli has been confirmed as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant coach with the South African national team, bringing his spell in charge of Botswana’s senior men’s side to an end.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) announced that Ramoreboli will join the Bafana Bafana technical team as Mosimane’s assistant ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

Ramoreboli’s appointment was confirmed jointly by SAFA and the Botswana Football Association (BFA). He is leaving his position as head coach of Botswana’s national team, The Zebras, to take up the new role in South Africa.

The move means Ramoreboli will continue his coaching career within the international game while becoming part of Mosimane’s backroom staff. His appointment also reflects the close footballing relationship between the neighbouring countries, according to the two associations.

In a joint statement, SAFA and BFA said:

> The South African Football Association (SAFA) and the Botswana Football Association (BFA) would like to announce that Coach Morena Ramoreboli will leave his position as Head Coach of the Botswana Senior Men’s National Team, The Zebras, to join the Bafana Bafana technical team as Assistant Coach to Head Coach Pitso Mosimane, ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign. > > The transition reflects the strong footballing relationship between the two neighbouring countries and provides Ramoreboli with an opportunity to continue his coaching journey at the highest level of African football. Both Associations acknowledge his significant contribution to Botswana football during his tenure and wish him every success as he begins this new chapter.

Ramoreboli’s departure closes his time as head coach of The Zebras, while his next assignment places him alongside Mosimane in the preparation of Bafana Bafana for their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

Both SAFA and BFA recognised the contribution he made to Botswana football during his tenure. The associations also expressed their support for his move into the South African setup and wished him success as he begins this next stage of his coaching career.
