Mohamed Salah knew Liverpool’s front three would always deliver
Mohamed Salah has reflected on his legendary Liverpool career, revealing he and his teammates were so confident at their peak that they almost expected a goal every time they played together.
The Egyptian, who will leave Anfield this summer after nine memorable years, spoke about the unique chemistry he shared with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
“There was a period of time, and I don’t want to sound arrogant, but we knew that one of the three was going to score,” Salah told SuperSport.
He highlighted Firmino’s selfless work as a false nine, regularly dropping deep to draw defenders out and open space for the two wide forwards to attack. Salah also admitted that his competitive edge with Mane pushed both players to higher levels. “I think it was healthy for us and it was necessary. Jurgen Klopp also let us grow and challenge each other, and it was very helpful for the team,” he said.
Salah departs having scored 257 goals in 440 appearances, winning multiple major trophies, though a hamstring injury will keep him out of Saturday’s Chelsea clash as he targets a final farewell later this season.
