Mohamed Salah holds detailed talks over surprise Besiktas move

Mohamed Salah has held in‐depth discussions with Besiktas head coach Vincenzo Italiano as the Turkish club steps up its ambitious bid to sign the Egypt captain this summer.

The 34-year-old forward, one of Besiktas’s priority targets in the current transfer window, is understood to have gone beyond initial contact with the Istanbul side and is now closely scrutinising the club’s plans on and off the pitch before deciding his future.

According to Turkish outlet CNNTurk, Salah has been in regular communication with the Black Eagles’ hierarchy and used a recent meeting with Italiano to press for detailed answers about the club’s sporting project for next season.

Salah quizzes Besiktas over squad and transfer plans

During the conversation with the Italian coach, Salah reportedly asked precise questions about how Besiktas intend to build their team for the coming campaign.

The winger wanted “comprehensive information” on the current squad structure, the reinforcements lined up for the remainder of the window and the side’s sporting ambitions both domestically and in Europe.

He was said to be particularly focused on the make-up of the attack and sought clarity on which players he would be partnering in the forward line.

He also raised specific questions such as: “من سيكون في الفريق، مع من سالعب؟” – “Who will be in the team, who will I play with?”

Focus on European ambitions and club philosophy

Salah is also understood to have requested a clear explanation of the team’s style of play and Italiano’s overall footballing philosophy.

The Egypt captain is weighing how Besiktas’s approach would suit his own game and what role he would be expected to assume in the attacking unit.

In addition, he asked for a detailed outline of Besiktas’s goals in European competitions, wanting to know how seriously the club intends to compete on the continental stage and what targets have been set for the coming years.

Sources quoted by CNNTurk say Salah places “great importance” on the quality of the existing squad, the calibre of planned signings and the club’s concrete ambition to compete for major trophies.

Besiktas push to convince Egypt captain

Besiktas’s board, for their part, are said to be accelerating efforts to convince the veteran forward to commit to the project.

The Turkish giants have reportedly assured Salah that they will assemble a strong and competitive squad capable of challenging for the league title and making an impact in Europe.

Club officials are continuing their work in the transfer market in parallel with talks with Salah, aiming to bolster key positions to make the sporting project more attractive to the Egyptian star.

Negotiations ‘positive’ as Salah monitors developments

CNNTurk reports that negotiations between the two parties are progressing in a “positive” manner, with no major breakdowns or public setbacks so far.

Salah is following every step of Besiktas’s squad-building process closely, mindful that the level of reinforcements and the club’s ambition over the next few seasons will be central to any decision he makes.

While no final agreement has been reported, the intensity and detail of the discussions suggest both sides are seriously exploring the possibility of one of the most high-profile moves in the Turkish Super Lig in recent years.

Besiktas, historically one of Turkey’s most successful and best-supported clubs, are seeking to rebuild after recent inconsistency and see the potential signing of Salah as a statement of intent in both sporting and commercial terms.

For Salah, who captains Egypt and remains one of the Arab world’s most recognisable footballers, any move would hinge on being convinced that Besiktas can offer a competitive environment, a clear tactical role and a realistic shot at silverware at home and in Europe.
