The Egyptian Football Association has reached an agreement with Brighton player Younes Ibrahim for him to represent Egypt at international level.
The association’s dual-nationality committee, led by Wasim Ahmed, has completed all the necessary steps with Ibrahim, who has agreed to join the Egypt national team.
The Football Association is now working to finish the administrative procedures required to add the player to the squad. His involvement in Egypt’s next international camp, however, will depend on head coach Hossam Hassan.
A decision from Hassan is awaited, with Ibrahim’s inclusion potentially ending the possibility of the player representing another national team.
Ibrahim currently plays for Brighton’s youth team, but he has already made two appearances for the club’s first team.
He provided an assist during his senior debut, which came in the UEFA Conference League.
Egypt are expected to play two matches against Malawi during the next international break. The fixtures will be the third and fourth rounds of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
