Mohamed Hany: Egypt fully focused and ready for Brazil test ahead of 2026 World Cup
Egypt right-back Mohamed Hany says the Pharaohs are firmly locked in on their preparations as they gear up for a high-profile friendly against Brazil ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Egyptian sports channel ON Sport, the Al Ahly defender stressed that the squad’s attention remains on their work as they fine-tune their approach for the tournament.
“We are fully focused and have nothing on our minds except our work,” Hany said.
Egypt will take on Brazil on 6 June at Huntington Bank Field in a key warm-up match designed to sharpen the team before the World Cup begins across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Hany acknowledged the scale of the challenge awaiting them, praising Brazil’s quality while insisting Egypt are preparing thoroughly.
“We are ready for the Brazil game. We study all our opponents carefully to identify their strengths and weaknesses,” he said. “Brazil’s squad includes some of the best players in the world. There are no players better than them.”
Despite the tough opposition, Hany maintained that Egypt will approach the match with determination and ambition.
“Not only me, but all the players will do their best to deliver a good performance. We will do everything we can to achieve a positive result regardless of the opponent’s name,” he added.
Egypt have been drawn in Group G at the World Cup alongside Belgium, New Zealand and Iran, with the tournament set to kick off on 11 June.
Hany described representing the national team on football’s biggest stage as a lifelong dream.
“It is a dream for everyone to be here and represent the Egyptian national team,” he said.
The Pharaohs will open their World Cup campaign against Belgium on 15 June, before facing New Zealand on 22 June and concluding their group matches against Iran on 27 June.
