Milan held by Sassuolo as away winless run continues

Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by Sassuolo at Mapei Stadium in the sixth round of Serie A, extending their wait for a victory at Sassuolo since 2022.

The result leaves Milan on 12 points in fifth place, while Sassuolo move to eight points and sit 10th in the table.

Adrien Rabiot put Milan ahead in the 63rd minute with a powerful finish from inside the penalty area, firing into the near corner beyond goalkeeper Muric.

Sassuolo levelled five minutes later when Cas Odenthal reacted quickest after confusion in the box following a corner, turning the loose ball into the net.

Neither side could find a winning goal in the remaining minutes, with the points shared after an evenly contested match.

Milan’s next fixture is against Red Bull Salzburg in the second round of the Europa League on Thursday, 15 October.
