Bukayo Saka to miss ‘a few more weeks’ with injury, says Mikel Arteta

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for several more weeks with a quadriceps injury sustained in last month’s Champions League draw away to Bayern Munich, manager Mikel Arteta says.

The 25-year-old will miss England’s Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain this month as he continues his rehabilitation.

“We’re talking about weeks. Let’s see, after the international break he’ll start hitting the pitch, but unfortunately he’s going to be out for a while,” Arteta said before Arsenal’s Premier League meeting with Hull City on Saturday.

Saka was injured during Arsenal’s draw at Bayern Munich and has not recovered in time to feature for either club or country this month.

Arteta also said he did not want to place excessive pressure on Arsenal’s medical and fitness staff as they manage the winger’s return.

There was more positive news regarding Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa, who was feeling better after going off with knee discomfort during Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League victory at Slavia Prague.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League with 24 points from their opening nine matches. They are also third in the Champions League table, two points behind Paris St Germain and Real Madrid.
