Michael Olise speculation dismissed as ‘nonsense’ by Bayern Munich chief

Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen has rejected growing speculation over Michael Olise’s future, saying there are currently no talks about extending the France international’s contract.

Olise, 24, has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid, with reports claiming the player hopes to represent the Spanish club at some point in his career. It was also reported that he had shared that ambition with some of his France team-mates during the World Cup.

Further reports suggested Real Madrid were interested in signing the Bayern Munich forward and could be prepared to make an offer worth as much as 150m euros.

However, Bayern say they have not received any formal approach from the Spanish club. Dreesen had previously insisted that Real Madrid had made no “phone call, letter or even fax” to discuss Olise.

Speaking again after Bayern’s victory over VfB Stuttgart, Dreesen said the German champions were not under pressure to begin talks with Olise, whose current contract runs until the summer of 2029.

“There are currently no negotiations. Michael has a contract until 2029, so there is no reason to rush,” Dreesen said, according to German newspaper Bild.

The Bayern chief added that the club was not focused on reports circulating outside the Allianz Arena, pointing instead to Olise’s performances and apparent satisfaction within the squad.

Dreesen said the player’s displays on the pitch offered the clearest response to the continuing speculation.

“The decisive language is spoken on the pitch. As someone responsible who knows what is happening inside the club, you sometimes enjoy and sometimes are surprised by everything that is written. We have always said that it is nonsense,” he added.

Olise made an immediate contribution as Bayern began their defence of the Bundesliga title with a 5-1 win over VfB Stuttgart on Friday. He scored Bayern’s second goal in the 55th minute.

The emphatic result strengthened the focus on the Frenchman’s role in Bayern’s plans rather than on the reports linking him with Real Madrid. Dreesen’s comments indicate that the club consider Olise’s long-term contract sufficient protection for now and see no need to respond to unconfirmed claims with immediate negotiations.

Bayern have therefore made clear that, despite the renewed attention on Olise and speculation about possible interest from Real Madrid, no transfer offer has arrived and no contract discussions are taking place at present.
