Mayele begins new chapter in Libya after record-breaking Pyramids FC spell

Fiston Mayele has ended his three-season stay at Pyramids FC and will continue his career with Al Ahli Tripoli in Libya.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo international confirmed his departure in an emotional video shared on his Facebook page, thanking the club’s supporters, his team-mates and everyone associated with Pyramids FC for a period filled with memorable moments.

Mayele arrived at the Egyptian club determined to establish himself at the highest level and quickly became one of the most influential players in its history. During his three seasons in Egypt, the striker became Pyramids FC’s all-time leading goalscorer.

His time at the club also coincided with one of the most successful periods in its history. Mayele helped Pyramids FC win four trophies and further enhanced his reputation by being named the 2025 African Interclub Player of the Year.

That individual award strengthened his position among the most respected and dangerous forwards in African football. His goalscoring record, ability to occupy opposing defences and influence in important matches made him a central figure in the Egyptian side’s progress.

Mayele had been linked with a move to a Saudi Arabian club, with Africafoot previously reporting the interest exclusively. However, the 31-year-old has chosen a different path and is set to take on a fresh challenge in Libya.

Already under contract with Al Ahli Tripoli, Mayele will join a club with significant ambitions in a league seeking to raise its profile and reach a higher level of competitiveness. His move represents the next stage of a career that has brought him extensive experience in African and international football.

Al Ahli Tripoli will hope the striker’s qualities can help the club challenge for major honours domestically and pursue its ambitions on the continental stage. Mayele’s finishing ability, physical presence and leadership are expected to be important assets as he adapts to his new surroundings.

The forward leaves Pyramids FC after writing an important chapter in the club’s development. His achievements in Egypt included becoming its leading scorer, collecting four trophies and receiving recognition as the continent’s top African interclub player for 2025.

He now begins life in Libya with the same objectives that have shaped his career so far: to score goals, contribute to his team’s ambitions and add further honours to his collection. For Al Ahli Tripoli, his arrival provides an experienced attacking option capable of making a significant impact in both domestic competition and continental football.
