Manchester City move for Allan Elias reaches medical stage after Palmeiras agreement
Manchester City have reached a full agreement with Palmeiras to sign Brazilian attacking prospect Allan Elias for a total fee of €40m.
The young forward has already arrived in Manchester, according to European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, and is expected to undergo his medical before completing the formalities of his move to the English champions later this week.
The transfer still requires the medical examination and the signing of the final documents, but Allan’s arrival in the city represents a significant step towards the deal being completed.
The Athletic reports that Manchester City will pay €37.5m as the guaranteed part of the fee, with a further €2.5m available through add-ons and performance-related bonuses. The length of Allan’s proposed contract has not yet been disclosed.
Manchester City had identified Allan as one of their targets as they looked to strengthen their attacking options. Palmeiras had maintained that the player was not for sale, while sources close to the Brazilian club indicated that his contract contained a €100m release clause.
The agreement therefore represents a substantial reduction on that figure, with Manchester City securing the deal for less than half of the reported clause.
A post shared on social media said: “🔵⚪️🇧🇷 Allan has just landed in Manchester to sign in at Manchester City this weekend.”
The move comes after Manchester City agreed to sell Brazilian winger Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur. The London club are set to pay £75m up front for the player, with a further £10m potentially due in add-ons.
That outgoing transfer has helped shape the latest changes to Manchester City’s attacking options, while the proposed arrival of Allan Elias would give the club another young Brazilian forward to develop.
Although Palmeiras had resisted the prospect of selling Allan, the two clubs have now settled on a package that combines a fixed payment with additional bonuses. The arrangement allows Manchester City to bring in the player for €40m rather than paying the €100m release clause previously cited by sources close to Palmeiras.
No details have yet been released about the duration of Allan’s contract, and the transfer will not be formally completed until the medical and signing process have taken place.
