Mali coach Tom Saintfiet blown away by Morocco’s infrastructure for AFCON 2025
Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet has praised Morocco’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, highlighting the quality of the host nation’s infrastructure ahead of the tournament.
The Belgian tactician pointed to Morocco’s modern stadiums, training facilities and hotels, noting that they provide ideal conditions for all participating teams to perform at their best during the competition.
Saintfiet also acknowledged the advantage Morocco will enjoy as hosts, explaining that playing on home soil with strong backing from local supporters gives the Atlas Lions added motivation. He described Morocco as one of the strongest teams not only on the African continent but also on the global stage, referencing their recent performances as evidence of their quality.
Turning his attention to Mali’s group, Saintfiet stressed that the competition will be evenly balanced. He believes each of the four teams has a genuine chance of progressing, making it essential for Mali to approach every match with respect and caution.
According to the coach, discipline and focus will be crucial throughout the group stage, as no opponent can be underestimated in a tournament of this level.
Mali will open their AFCON 2025 campaign on December 22 against Zambia at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
They will then face hosts Morocco four days later at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat in what could prove to be a decisive encounter. The group stage concludes on December 29, with Mali set to meet Comoros once again in Casablanca.
